Gotta Get There Together

Have you ever been in a 3-legged race? I remember them well from growing up. One of your legs is tied to your partners leg and you run together trying to reach the finish line. The key word…TOGETHER. If you try to go separate directions…if one of you goes too fast or too slow…if you can’t find your rhythm and run TOGETHER…you’ll never make it.

Marriage is that same kind of partnership. The moment you say, “I do,” God works one of His greatest miracles…two become one. There is no longer a He and She…only a We. That “We” must work together, stay on the same page and in the same rhythm if they ever want to experience the fullness of God’s promise for their family.

God DOES have a promise for you family. And…if you put God at the center of your marriage…you WILL get there. BUT…you gotta get there together.

Where Are Your Mile Markers?

Over the past few months, I have really begun to identify with Abraham. Here is a guy that God told to just get up and go and he got up and went.

  • no detailed vision
  • no defined finish line

He had to move in faith knowing that God would take Him from mile marker to mile marker. As he journeyed, ever time he stopped, he would build an altar and worship. He was marking his milestones. He may not have known where the journey would take him, but he knew how far he had come.

As we move with God, very often we may not know exactly what God has before us. But, we always know what now lies behind us and how far God has brought us. Take time to put up mile markers to remind you how far you’ve come and give you strength to go even further.

What Are You Demonstrating?

I am what you call a visual learner. I love a good demonstration. Know who does that well? Vacuum salesmen. When they knock on your door, they don’t come in and just tell you about their product. They demonstrate:

  • How it works
  • What it does
  • How it will revolutionize your life
  • What makes it worth the cost

As Christ followers, we have been given the task of going and making disciples. To do that effectively, it is not enough to simply communicate the truth of Jesus. We have to DEMONSTRATE Jesus:

  • How He works
  • What He does
  • How He will revolutionize your life
  • What makes Him worth the cost

If it’s been a while since you’ve seen someone in your circle come to know Jesus, maybe you should ask yourself…what are you demonstrating?
