Touching the Heart of God

Part of my morning routine is to drive my two small boys to school on my way to work. Gotta tell ya…my boys are silly. They love to make up silly songs and sing them at the top of their lungs to make each other laugh. My poor radio must feel neglected as I never have to turn it on with the live entertainment happening in the back seat.

What I have found is that I absolutely love the sound of my boys laughing. It touches my heart like nothing else. Why? Because that sound lets me know that they are happy. I can hear the joy in their lives through their laughter. It is their happiness, their joy, that brings even greater joy to me.

I imagine that’s what God must feel like when we live our lives with joy. I picture our laughter touching the heart of our heavenly Father…moving Him to share in our joy, to revel in it. I imagine nothings makes God happier than to know His children are happy.

That’s just my opinion. What do you think?

Managing in the Middle

Have you ever found yourself in the middle of two visions? You know God has called you to where you are “for such a time as this”. At the same time, God has pulled back the curtain to reveal just a taste of a future calling. If you have, then you know it can be both exciting and exhausting at the same time.

So here’s my question and I want to see what you guys who have been there suggest…what have you found that helps you continue to operate in excellence where you are while maintaining passion for where God is taking you?

Are You Savoring the Favor?

I have found these two things to be true:

  • God’s love is unconditional
  • His FAVOR is not

As a father, there is nothing in this world or the next that could cause me to stop loving my kids or even love them less. However, their obedience determines how I demonstrate that love. When they make right choices, they are rewarded…they enjoy my FAVOR. When they make poor choices, my love is demonstrated through discipline to help guide and grow them.

God loves you. As a believer, you are grafted into His family…you are His child. But, it is possible to experience the love of God and not live in the favor of God. He bestows His favor on those who walk in obedience and faith. There is a big difference.

Psalm 31:19 (NET) – How great is your favor, which you store up for your loyal followers!

What do you think? Can you live in God’s love and still miss out on His favor?
