This past weekend, I saw the movie, “I am Number Four”. It was a great flick…my kind of movie. Without giving too much away, it’s basically about a young guy who’s from another world and trying to find his way in ours while avoiding destruction from an enemy race.
One of the best moments in the movie happens when he is talking with a girl he has become infatuated with. She talks about looking forward to finally being able to get out of their small town. He says, “a place is only as good as the people you know in it.”
What a powerful statement. We so often take for granted those people who are in our closest circle…those who mean the most to us: family, intimate friends, teammates. These are the people we “do life” with on a daily basis…the ones who have our back when no one else does…the ones who don’t walk away when we screw up. These are the people who make a place a home.
Do you cherish your circle?
