Patience…Virtue or Dirty Word?

Patience is not one of my strengths. I’m the guy who will change checkout lanes 15 times before waiting longer than 90 seconds to be checked out. It was only a couple of years ago that my wife and I actually made it to Christmas day before exchanging Christmas gifts. Without a doubt in my mind, I am a full-blown product of the MTV generation…I want it NOW.

What I’ve had to learn is that God doesn’t always work in the now. He may speak a promise or a vision into your life that will take weeks, months or even years to come to fruition. Think about Abraham. God promised he would be the father of many nations at the age of 75. It wasn’t until the ripe old age of 100 that Isaac was born. The dude had to wait 25 YEARS!

So what do we do while we’re waiting?

  • Trust God to do what He promised He would
  • Prepare for what is ahead
  • Do battle in the spiritual to make way for the physical
  • Stay focused on the destination but don’t miss out on the journey
  • Build passion in yourself and those around you
Remember, if God said it…it WILL happen…just…maybe not right away. Don’t lose hope. Press on.
