We are very fortunate to live in a nation where we have freedom. We are free to pursue that which matters most to us. It is a freedom that was procured by the blood of those who sacrificed themselves so that we may be free.
As believers, we experience an even greater freedom. It, too, is a freedom that was purchased by blood, the precious blood of Jesus who sacrificed himself so that we may be free.
But what does it really mean to be free? I think we often miss the true essence of freedom. Yes, Jesus died so that we may be free from the bondage and consequences of sin. But, there is more. Because of what Jesus did, we have been given the freedom to set others free…to help others experience that which God has already done for us.
That is true freedom…not that we are free but that we set others free.
